Stop the closure of the birthing center at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital
On June 30, 2026, the BMH Board of Directors voted to close the Birthing Center within six to nine months — unless significant financial support from the State of Vermont and/or community members can be secured. Visit SaveBirthatBMH.org to learn more about efforts to stop this closure.

AFT Vermont requested all candidates who have a contested election to fill out a questionnaire based on the legislative priorities voted on by delegates to the AFT Vermont Convention. You can view their answers here: Responses to Questionnaire 2026 - Google Sheets
“Northwestern Healthcare United members successfully resolved our first grievance with management. The issue involved a schedule change that conflicted with my childcare responsibilities, and through the process, we reached a resolution that supports my family needs. During the grievance meeting, management even acknowledged their appreciation for our structured approach to resolving issues. Collective action ensures that our contract works for all members. When colleagues support one another we win." - Daniel Vincent, Northwestern Healthcare United member
