After 4 months and 11 bargaining sessions, PPNNE-United ratified our third contract on 7/17! We saw supermajority participation in all of our actions, and strong turnout at all of our bargaining sessions throughout negotiations. In a 36 hour turnaround time from reaching our TA to ratification, 98% of all members participated in our ratification vote, and 98% voted YES! Some of our favorite wins:
- Brought up minimum pay from $18.94 to $22!
- Brought up starting pay for clinicians from $45.46 to $56!
- At least 4% raises for all members
- Advance notice of policy changes
- And no Take Backs!
Throughout the course of negotiations, management not only attempted mightily to divide our bargaining unit, but also engaged in bad faith negotiations; and even refused to meet us at the table. We took collective action to show them we were organized, united, and ready to fight hard.
Some of our favorite actions included: taking a collective and coordinated 10 minute break across every clinic and workplace in our affiliate (Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire). Before taking our 10, we all simultaneously sent our CEO a Teams message calling to settle a fair contract NOW! Our contract expired on 6/30 and we did not let up our pressure on management. For each day we went without settling a contract, all staff arrived 5 minutes late to work. We heard from middle and upper management how upset they were by our actions, and how much of an impact they had.
We’re so proud we stayed united and utilized our collective power, despite all of management’s efforts to divide us. And we are very proud of the changes we were able to make in our contract! |
