NHU corrects pay for nearly a dozen nurses! From Emily Millman, President of Northwestern Healthcare United
A major part of winning our contract was implementation of a transparent and consistent pay scale. Part of the implementation process involved negotiating with management to place nurses on the appropriate wage step relevant to their years of experience.
In several cases, nurses were not placed on the correct wage step by management, requiring the Union to follow up with management repeatedly to advocate for our members. All of these cases are now settled. In some cases the difference between management's initial placement and the final placement were really significant — up to $8/hour difference!
“Thanks to the hard work of my colleagues, I was able to get a pay increase that reflects my 19 years of bedside nursing experience. Our solidarity makes us stronger.” - Jamison Shaffer, PCU RN |
