Want to Elect a Governor who stands with Labor?

At the AFT-Vermont Convention this past weekend members voted to endorse Amanda Janoo for Governor! Janoo has consistently stood with us - whether it is standing with VNFHP and SSU as they prepare to strike, or voicing immediate support for funding to keep BMH’s birthing center open.

On the other hand, the current Governor has consistently opposed Labor throughout his four terms in office. He supports maintaining our for-profit healthcare system, he’s vetoed increasing the minimum wage and universal paid family leave, he doesn’t support taxing the rich, and opposes Prop 3 (the statewide ballot measure to guarantee workers the right to organize). Over four terms in office, the incumbent has not stood with members during key fights.

If you want to support Amanda’s campaign, her team is holding a virtual statewide organizing meeting on September 30th! RSVP and get more information here.

AFT Vermont Locals in Action!

96% of Rutland Healthcare Workers United vote NO on management’s offer.

Management tried to offer RHWU a 2% raise and 1% bonus. Rather than accept crumbs, the  bargaining team launched a membership drive. About 200 people signed membership cards, which means they now have majority membership before securing their first contract. 96% voted NO to the minuscule raise.

Join RHWU on Saturday, October 17th from 12-2pm in Main Street Park in Rutland for a potluck and rally as they push for a fair and equitable contract by the holidays.
